Nicole Ari Parker was born in New York City. The actress is American actor in stage and films. Her most famous role is in the role of Teri an ardent attorney Teri Jospehson in the Showtime television series Soul Food. Her name is currently her married name, Nikki Kodjoe. Growing up in Baltimore, Maryland she showed an aptitude for acting in her the age of five and was awarded a Best Actress award in the Maryland high school contest. Contractor, who was born and raised by his parents in Nigeria and Mumbai when he was 7years old, traveled all over the world and experienced diverse cultures when he was a kid. At the age of seven to nine, the young lady went to boarding school in London. Her family relocated to Toronto where she lived throughout her early years. In Toronto, Contractor excelled in academics, and was trained to become an classical ballerina. She attended the Etobicoke School of the Arts which is a highly specialized public arts high school where she was not just a dancer but studied theater as well. Contractor was just 16 when she realized that acting would be her future career. She danced for a decade. Following her graduation from high school Contractor accepted a scholarship at The University of Toronto to pursue the dual field of sociology and psychology. In addition, she obtained a master's degree in Theater. Following a year at University, Contractor went to an audition on a call-to-action basis for the play Pericles at the prestigious famous, world-class Stratford Shakespeare Festival [Ontario, Canada and got the lead role. After the show ran for 92 times, she was rewarded with praise from the audience. The play was deemed the best production in Canada by critics. She was invited to attend Stratford's conservatory. It is a place which allows just four men and eight women are able to take a 20 weeks crash course of classical theater. Contractor's participation in the next season's production was confirmed. She got the part of Hermia in A Midsummer Night's Dream.
